Assessment Process
During an assessment, a licensed mental health professional will gather information from the person in crisis as well as the family, if available. The assessment professional and the on-call physician will determine the best course of treatment which might include inpatient or outpatient services, or the individual could return home with specific discharge instructions and follow-up if needed.
